We both follow diametrically-opposed social, political and economic systems but yet we both are so close to each other in almost all sectors.&nbsp; We do not have any problems at all between ourselves. China, despite being a developing economy herself, has been providing most liberal and unconditional assistances to Nepal in our all round developments. The most unique specially of this assistance is that any programme or project executed with Chinese aid produces immediate impact on our socio-economic conditions. These unique friendly and good neighborly relations have grown up through the constant exchange of visits between the two countries at all level, which are on record.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:16.0pt;\nfont-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:16.0pt;\nfont-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Nepal and the Nepalese people have the good faith and trust with China and the Chinese people. The people whom we met and saw wherever we visited in Beijing, Kunming and Yuxi City were looking quite well-fed, well-dressed and well-cared for which gave a very clear impression that they had reached a position where worries about how to meet minimum requirements have no more to pain them. Neat and clean was the pattern of surroundings where we visited and the people were highly disciplined. The visit indeed afforded us with a unique opportunity of witnessing and experiencing with the highest sense of appreciation the charismatic progress, China has been achieving by leaps and bounds. The nature and contents of the overall socio-economic development, the Chinese people are accomplishing are so marvelous that every minute the country is going up in a manner beyond recognition.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align:justify;text-indent:.5in\"><span style=\"font-size:16.0pt;font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><b><u><span style=\"font-size:16.0pt;font-family:\n&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;;mso-font-kerning:18.0pt;mso-bidi-font-style:italic\">Great Respect to Chairman Mao<\/span><\/u><\/b><b><u><span style=\"font-size:16.0pt;\nfont-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;;mso-font-kerning:18.0pt\"><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;text-indent:.5in\"><span style=\"font-size:16.0pt;\nfont-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">During our stay in Beijing, we also got the opportunity to visit The Chairman Mao Zedong&rsquo;s Mausoleum on 18<sup>th<\/sup> Dec. 2010 Saturday in Tianmen Square. While paying our great respect to Chairman Mao, we have also seen many foreigners and Chinese people paying great respects. Chairman Mao&#8217;s body lies in a crystal coffin in one of the halls surrounded by fresh bouquets of various famous flowers and grasses.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;\ntext-align:justify;mso-line-height-alt:13.5pt\"><span style=\"font-size:16.0pt;\nfont-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;;mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; At the southern end of Tian&#8217;anmen Square just behind the Monument to the Heroes of the people, there is the Chairman Mao Mausoleum. It is a relatively new structure, construction began in 1976 after the death of our leader Mao Zedong and completed only a year later in 1977. Chairman Mao was born on 26<sup>th<\/sup> December 1893 in Hunan Province. He passed away in Beijing on 9<sup>th<\/sup> September 1976 at the age of 83. While Chairman Mao was still alive, he was one of the first high-ranking officials to sign up for cremation, a procedure that was shunned by the superstitious population. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;\ntext-align:justify;mso-line-height-alt:13.5pt\"><span style=\"font-size:16.0pt;\nfont-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;;mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Nobody were allowed to talk inside the building. The hall is 260 meters long from north to south, 220 meters wide from east to west and 33.6 meters high. Like the Monument to the Heroes of the people, it is also located on the central axis of old Beijing. It has five parts, namely, the Courtyard, the Memorial Hall, the North Hall, the Viewing Hall and the South Hall. In the Viewing Hall, the remains of Chairman Mao are displayed in a crystal casket. The casket is mechanically raised from a freezer for viewing during the day and then lowered again at night. It can be viewed on most mornings.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;\ntext-align:justify;mso-line-height-alt:13.5pt\"><span style=\"font-size:16.0pt;\nfont-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;;mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; There is a white marble statue of a seated Chairman Mao in the North Hall. Behind it hangs a woolen tapestry with an inspiring phrase embroidered on it: Our motherland is such a great beauty. The hall also has an upper floor containing exhibits which describe in great detail the revolutionary careers of Chairman Mao Zedong, Premier Zhou Enlai, Marshal Zhu De and Chairman Liu Shaoqi.This sculpture right in front of us is entitled &quot;Great Achievements.&quot; The statue is 8.7 meters tall and presents some of the great achievements the Chinese people made under the leadership of Chairman Mao. At the back of the mausoleum, there are two similar sculptures with the theme: &quot;Carry the cause of our revolution through to the end.&quot;<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;\ntext-align:justify;mso-line-height-alt:13.5pt;mso-outline-level:1\"><b><u><span style=\"font-size:16.0pt;font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;;mso-fareast-font-family:\n&quot;Times New Roman&quot;;mso-font-kerning:18.0pt;mso-bidi-font-style:italic\">Tian&#8217;anmen Square and its Surroundings<\/span><\/u><\/b><b><u><span style=\"font-size:16.0pt;\nfont-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;;mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;;\nmso-font-kerning:18.0pt\"><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;\ntext-align:justify;mso-line-height-alt:13.5pt\"><span style=\"font-size:16.0pt;\nfont-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;;mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; At the very heart of Beijing, sits Tian&#8217;anmen Square, the largest urban square in the world. This vast space, measuring 40 hectares has a historical significance to rival its size.Enlarged in the 1960s, Tian&#8217;anmen Square now measures 880 meters from north to south, 500 meters from east to west and can accommodate up to one million people. Classical Beijing planning however, didn&#8217;t permit public squares. They were seen largely as dangerous places where crowds could gather and diverted attention and focus away from the Emperor. Tian&#8217;anmen Square is therefore one of Beijing&#8217;s most modern sites and largely Mao&#8217;s concoction. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;\ntext-align:justify;mso-line-height-alt:13.5pt\"><span style=\"font-size:16.0pt;\nfont-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;;mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The 4<sup>th<\/sup> May demonstrations in 1919 against the Treaty of Versailles took place here. So too did anti-Japanese protests in 1935. Mao inspected his troops here during the Cultural revolution and in 1976, one million people gathered in the square to pay tribute to the Chairman. Today, visitors remember the square mostly for the images of the 1989 student demonstrations in this concrete mass which were relayed throughout the world. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;\ntext-align:justify;mso-line-height-alt:13.5pt\"><span style=\"font-size:16.0pt;\nfont-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;;mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The incredible size of the square, the gray colour of the surrounding buildings, the historical memories and the various monuments dotted about, leave some Western visitors unmoved by Tian&#8217;anmen. But the sheer wealth of historical sites and the political importance of the area make it a must-see for travelers to Beijing. This is not only the physical centre of China but also the centre of power and politics.&nbsp; <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><b><u><span style=\"font-size:16.0pt;font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">West of the Square is the Great Hall of the People<\/span><\/u><\/b><b><span style=\"font-size:16.0pt;font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\"><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;text-indent:.5in\"><span style=\"font-size:16.0pt;\nfont-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">This building erected in 1959 is the site of the China National People&#8217;s Congress meetings and provides an impressive site for other political and diplomatic activities. Twelve marble posts are in front of the Hall which has three parts the Central Hall, the Great Auditorium and a Banqueting Hall. The floor of the Central Hall is paved with marble and crystal lamps hang from the ceiling. The Great Auditorium behind the Central Hall have seats 10,000. The Banqueting Hall is a huge hall with 5,000 seats.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\" style=\"text-align:justify;text-indent:.5in\"><span style=\"font-size:16.0pt;font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">In Beijing, we visited the office of the Economic Daily where Deputy Editor in Chief Mr. Ding Shi briefed us the details of that newspaper. This invitation we had formally extended to Mr. Gu Yong Hua, Executive Secretary   and Member of the Board of the Leadership of ACJA during the welcome grand   dinner hosted by ACJA in honour of our delegation in Beijing.
